our mission

A few years ago I found myself on the shores of West Africa, working to keep a busy hospital running and at the same time organizing the launch of a new children's clinic. Little did I know this clinic would provide thousands of vulnerable children with medical care and therapeutic food to treat malaria and severe malnutrition, both in the new clinic and also in the hospital's pediatric unit.

In the beginning the team believed there was a need in the city for such a service, but we quickly discovered the need was immense! Every month the number of children coming to the clinic grew, with many of them suffering from significant malaria or severely malnourished and close to death. Sadly, many times both conditions were present.

Across the globe, over 30 million children suffer from severe acute malnutrition - otherwise known as starvation. Many of these children live across Africa, Southeast Asia, and South America. Of those 30 million, all of them lack adequate medical care. It’s a tragedy that demands a response, and thankfully many great organizations like LIVE2540, Samaritan's Purse, African Mission Healthcare, missions hospitals, doctors, and other caregivers are working hard to alleviate this suffering. When I left Africa a few years later, I knew I wanted to keep helping vulnerable children in some way - however how small.

Upon my return to the US, I eventually found myself focusing on my personal fitness. In order to meet my macro nutritional needs, I began creating my own protein bars in my kitchen to eat at work or after my regular workouts. I needed something that was larger than the average protein bar (because I'm a hungry guy), had a lot of protein for muscle health, was low in fat to meet my macro goals, but also tasted great. This was difficult to find in the market… hence the "KING SOLOMON bar" was born.

But Yellow Tamarack LLC and the KING SOLOMON bar have a greater mission - a

mission to provide medical care and medical nutrition to starving vulnerable children. 

Every sale of a box of King Solomon Protein Bars provides medical care &/or feeds a child who suffers from acute malnutrition. This is accomplished by providing funds to amazing organizations that care for these children first hand. Organizations that I have personally worked with “on the ground” in Africa to provide medical care or therapeutic food to help feed these suffering children. (Plumpy'nut or therapeutic milk of F75 or F100) 

As we grow and expand our products, we plan to give even more back to care for the 30 million children in need around the globe - and one day, by God's mercy, end this suffering. Thank you for supporting this mission by enjoying our products.
